Silent Butterfly

Blue Butterfly

Does one hear the sound
Of a butterfly’s wings
Or know in advance
When a songbird will sing?
Yet they perform
It seems for only us
In those moments of time
When we are most alone

We know not when a soft breeze
Shall pass by
There is no warning
That appears in the sky

Does a shooting star
Send out a flare
To let us know
It will soon appear?

We are like the shells
Cast from the sea
Scattered on an endless beach
Sparkling in the sun
To be picked up and held tenderly

One breath following so many in a day
We take without a thought
Blend with wonders of our existence
And the One whose Hand’s has wrought
